We walked through the house and Kathleen provided instructions about editing each room to make the home more attractive to buyers. I was able to accomplish everything in short order. The house went on the market on a Friday and by Sunday (and after 61 showings) we had 19 offers, several in cash and well over the asking price. I was faced with the task of selling their home while working full-time and living a good distance away in another state. I wanted an experienced realtor familiar with the area, with 5-star reviews and a history of successful sales. My parent’s home was sold and settlement was made just two short months after my very first meeting with Kathleen Layton, for the price we asked, amid a pandemic! That record is hard to beat! A recent experience taught me that choosing a realtor solely because they are a friend or family member does not mean they are the right person for the job. I needed to feel comfortable and trust that the realtor I chose would be able to see the unique qualities of my parent’s property, not readily found in the area’s comparables, have the ability to set a realistic price and have the skills to market it well. I decided I would interview several highly-rated realtors before choosing one. Kathleen Layton’s impressive resume and successful sales history on Zillow stood out and matched the type of person I was looking for, which prompted me to call. I explained my circumstances, we set up a meeting, and I emailed her info and pictures of the home. Two days later, we met me at the house, talked, and toured the house. Kathleen brought something to my attention that would need to be repaired before a home inspection took place, which others had missed.
